Christ lies still, upon cushions of crimson velvet, defeated by pain and death. His body, carved from living wood, speaks through open wounds and strained veins of the torment endured. Blood, halted in its flow, still traces his brow like a dry river of redemption. His hands, gently crossed, hold the cloth that veils his final dignity. His feet, lifted upon their last resting place, echo the nail that pierced them. His skin, broken by passion, bears witness to love taken to its limit. There is no gesture of despair, only silence. A silence that aches, that waits. This is the Baroque Christ, who does not scream, yet says everything.
